​NAPERVILLE TREE CARE'S GUIDE TO THE 2024 CURBSIDE BRUSH COLLECTION

Spring is in full swing, which means it's time for yard cleanups across Naperville! If you've been putting off that daunting task of pruning trees and bushes, we have good news. The City of Naperville's annual Curbside Brush Collection program is about to make your spring cleaning a whole lot easier.

Here's what Naperville homeowners need to know:

​WHEN DOES BRUSH COLLECTION START?

​Starting the week of May 6th, 2024, Naperville's hardworking brush collection crews will be cruising neighborhoods to pick up all those fallen branches and piles of pruned bushes. But don't wait until the last minute! Brush should be out on the parkway (the space between the sidewalk and street) by the Sunday before your scheduled collection week.

WHAT'S THE BRUSH COLLECTION SCHEDULE?

​The city is split into 5 different collection districts that align with the normal garbage pickup days. Check out this schedule to plan ahead:
  • If your garbage day is Monday, brush goes out by May 5th for May 6-10 collection
  • Tuesday garbage? Brush out by May 12th for May 13-17 pickup
  • Wednesday garbage is May 19th brush out for May 20-24 collection
  • For Thursday garbage folks, brush out by May 27th for May 28-31 collection (adjusted for Memorial Day)
  • And Friday garbage gets brush picked up June 3-7 if out by June 2nd

​Mark your calendars, because the crews only make ONE pass through each neighborhood per schedule. Any latecomers will get skipped over!

​HOW TO PREP YOUR BRUSH FOR COLLECTION

Fallen branches and prunings don't just get tossed in a pile -there's a proper way to set everything out to make it easy on the collection crews. Follow these guidelines:
  • Branch lengths between 3-8 feet, max 6 inches diameter
  • Stack branches neatly with cut ends towards the street
  • No tying, bundling, or tangling the brush piles
  • Separate any piles with thorny branches
  • Only brush from the front yard, not sides or backyard
You'll also want to steer clear of mixing in things like vines, roots, yard waste, or anything non-brush. Those get skipped!

​RUNNING BEHIND ON SPRING CLEANUP?

If you don't get everything pruned and ready in time for the one-week brush collection, no worries! Naperville allows bundled or bagged yard waste and brush to go out with regular garbage through December 13th. Just be sure to use proper yard waste bags or bundles with a sticker.
